Nafeesa is a first-generation Afghan-American entrepreneur. Runnings two small businesses simultaneously, hosting a podcast and being a mom, Nafeesa is certainly multitasking!
Both Nasimi Jewels and Nasimi Designs were founded through the lens of stories waiting to be told. Nasimi Designs markets resin artwork pieces for home decor and gifts, while its sister company Nasimi Jewels markets culturally curated pieces that reflect positivity and love.
How it all began?
Nasimi Designs was launched in the Fall of 2020 during the worldwide pandemic. “Starting a new business during a pandemic may seem like a crazy idea, but whether you’re pivoting because of a layoff or the pandemic has given you time to think about what you really want to do with your life, you started to explore your hobby.”
As Nafeesa and her husband worked and went to school remotely, they had a chance to build a vision and ultimately, a business!
“When my husband asked me what Jewelry Piece and Art I liked at that time, I told him that I wanted something sentimental yet simple. That is when after 15 years of our marriage, we set out to find that sentimental gift – we looked everywhere, but we couldn’t find anything that would be truly special to both of us.”
Instead of finding that sentimental piece, Nafeesa created it and Nasimi Designs was born. “Now, I design different pieces that are inspired and curated with meticulously designs that detail innovation, precision and inspiration. Through Art, I want to express our culture & beliefs, but also the causes that we care about.”
Giving Back
“I think a product is so much more beautiful when it does more than just bring value in our life, but adds value to others. Whether it be a cause, a particular non-profit or a community, dedicating a partial profit, even if its a small fracture of the business is something more than the brand itself. With each purchase you make, a percentage goes into a mission I care for deeply.”
Each month Nasimi Designs and Nasimi Jewels donates 10% of their proceeds to one of many foundations to date. Some of the recent examples are below:
Women In Need, UNICEF‘s Safe and Clean Water projects, Launch Good campaign: 30 Days of Fasting, 30 Days of Giving, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and so much more.
