What You Will Need

One for the great things about styling these salami roses is that they do not require much. To make a single rose you will only need a small bowl and eleven slices of salami.

My preference of vessel for my salami rose is a two-ounce clear plastic condiment cup that you can buy right from Amazon. You can also use small ramekins or bowls like these that I found at Walmart. As a small business owner, Charcuterie & Things, I purchase my condiment cups in bulk.

As for the salami, my go-to is always  the Italian Dry Salami from Columbus Craft Meats. The diameter and thickness of the slices are perfect for the two-ounce condiment cups. Not to mention – it is delicious. If you are lucky enough to find the one with hints of red wine, grab it immediately!

Not feeling salami? You can use any type of charcuterie meat you like – Sopresatta, Pepperoni, Genoa Salami – you name it. Just be mindful of the size of the slices to the size of your cup or bowl.

The Technique

There are a few different ways to make a salami rose. I am sure you have seen the viral salami roses made using the rim of a wine or champagne glass. That is a great way to do it, but it is not my preference.

I am going to show you exactly how I create my salami roses that go on all my boards. This technique, while I don’t have a clever name for it, has worked the best for me. It may take a few times of practicing to nail it down, but once you do it becomes complete muscle memory!

Step 1:

Take 5 slices of salami (or whatever charcuterie meat product you choose) and layer then in a circle around the condiment cup.

Step 2:

With the six remaining salami slices left, fold each one in half (round half facing up).

Step 3:

Layer each folded salami piece on top of the last starting left to right.

Step 4:

Beginning on the left side, slowly roll the salami across. This will form the middle of the rose.

Step 5:

Place the rolled up salami in the center of your condiment cup. You can adjust the pieces to create a fuller look.

Step 6:

Add fresh herbs like rosemary or use greenery around the roses to complete the look.

Materials

  • 1 8oz Brie Round

  • With the six remaining salami slices, fold each one in half (round half facing up).
  • Layer each folded piece on top of the last starting left to right.
  • Beginning on the left side, slowly roll the salami across. This will form the middle of the rose.
  • Place the rolled up salami in the center of your condiment cup. You can adjust the pieces to create a fuller look.
  • Add some fresh herbs like rosemary or use greenery around the roses to complete the look.
